New methods of making the internet of things safer within the concept of Industry 4.0

Industrial safety is a sensitive area that has been little explored from a practical perspective. Executing attacks on the control elements of production lines is not feasible under realistic conditions. This publication discusses the description of the attacks, the attacks reflected and the methods tested on production line models. Two levels of protection against these attacks are presented. The first one is static based on the definition of rules that can be applied to a classical network infrastructure. The second type is dynamic, where network traffic is evaluated and non-standard network traffic is detected. Based on this, a protection scheme is then proposed and a comprehensive protection against DoS and DRDoS attacks is demonstrated.
